Summary of Critical Dates

• June 22, 2020

  • (1-year speedy trial for Informations filed prior to 9/14 shall begin on 6/22/20 or date of Information filing, whichever is later).

• July 13, 2020

  • In person court proceedings begin (sooner if proper precautions taken);
  • Non-Jury Trials begin (sooner if proper precautions taken); and
  • If arraigned prior to this date, deadline for PT motions is 30 days before trial.

• August 3, 2020

  • Date through which defense counsel may execute WGP (review compliance protocol); and
  • Court may continue sentences beyond this date where no waivers a remade.

• September 14, 2020

  • Jury Trials begin;
  • Day 1 for calculating speedy trial for Informations filed prior to 9/14/20 (1-year  speedy trial for Informations filed prior to 9/14 shall begin on 6/22/20 or date of Information filing, whichever is later); and
  • Grand Jury Proceedings begin.

• December 12, 2020

  • Date through which written arraignments need not be under oath;
  • Date through which defense counsel may execute written arraignment (with consent of court and defendant, only having reviewed the WAPNG terms with defendant);
  • Date through which a defendant may waive personal presence (with consent of court; excludes trial and sentencing);
  • Date through which bond reviews may be done by vide or phone;
  • Date through which Court may accept felony guilty pleas in same manner as indictable misdemeanors;
  • Date through which PSIs may be shared with defendants subject to “reasonable safeguards”;
  • Date through which sentencings may occur by video or phone with consent and proper waivers; and
  • Date through which stipulated sentences with court approval may be accepted without any appearances (with proper waivers/verifications).
